Most performers who have gone on the road reached a point where it was inevitable, as an artist they could not continue without setting out beyond their locale. What was the turning point and why?
This season on ‘Pony Pod’ burlesque dancer, music hall vaudevillian, vedette and entrepreneur Miss Mary Jane Green sits down with ten performance artists from a wide array of genres to discuss their artistic pursuits, the moment travel began and the impact it had on both their professional and personal lives.
Miss Mary Jane Green, internationally touring performance artist & music hall vaudevillian, pulls inspiration from Weimar Kabarett, UFA German Expressionism & early Hollywood cinema. She evokes the glory days of titillating cabaret appearing on stages across the US, Canada, New Zealand & Europe. Having performed for the majority of her life, she is a member of SAG/AFTRA/AEA studying at Circle in the Square Theater School on Broadway and holds a Master's degree in Drama.
Her background in ballet, jazz and the theatrical design arts combined with her vast experience acting & traveling informs her unique aestheticism. Miss Mary Jane’s scholarly pursuits specialize in Berlin's risqué cabaret scene during the Weimar Republic. She is a life long vintage enthusiast continuing in a classic vein with the hope of keeping bygone retro entertainment alive.
