Pony Pod - A Traveling Performers Podcast Featuring Carine Carioca

In Nouméa, New Caledonia Carine Carioca is a dancer/producer doing amazing things! She sits down with MJ to talk about the Nouméa Burlesque Festival, her burlesque school, the Cultural Exchange program her festival has with both the Australian and the New Zealand Burlesque Festivals as well as taking her troupe, not once but twice, to the Burlesque Hall of Fame competing for Large Group and featured in the Movers, Shakers and Innovators Showcase. Tune in to hear how this salsa dancer who loves Fosse was exposed to burlesque and how it has changed her, her students and brought burlesque in a big way to a small island nation in Melanesia.

Carine Richez Raguin is "Lady Carioca".

Dancer, teacher and choreographer, born in Paris where she practiced Classical Dance and Jazz for 10 years . She moved to Brazil at the age of 18. She spent 13 years there and continued her dance training, turning to Modern dance, Limon-Cunnigham method. Carine is also part of a contemporary dance troupe "Companhia de dança Nù Tempo". It is Brazil that inspires her stage name: LADY CARIOCA! (the cariocas are the inhabitants of the mythical city: Rio de Janeiro) In New Caledonia, she opened her own dance school "Art and Movement" where she taught modern'jazz, contemporary and Brazilian dances.    She created the "Dança Brasil" troupe in 2004.  Passionate about musicals, she created the "On Broadway" cabaret troupe in 2009 and produced several cabaret shows with her husband, Guy Raguin.    She also becomes his assistant in magic shows for children and adults. It will also be part of its children's TV programs (Bateau Rigolo, La Case à Guy, La Kidchinette by Guy Raguin and Carinette).  Artistic director and choreographer of the 2013 Miss Caledonia Election, organizer of events such as Flashmob, street entertainment, parades ... so many strings to her bow, which allow her to always be creative and versatile.       In 2010, his passion for the New Burlesque Cabaret began, when he met Dirty Martini, who came for one of the Cabaret shows. Carine goes to New York to the School of Burlesque to train. She gives Burlesque lessons and creates the "Burlesque Nouméa" troupe in 2012! Lady Carioca has been teaching Burlesque for 6 years.  She went to New York in the School of Burlesque of Jo Boobs (Darlinda just darlinda, Pekaboo Pointe, Gal Friday), in Sydney to follow a masterclass of Miss Polly Rae from London and participate in the workshops of the Australian Burlesque Festival (Indigo Blue , Black Pearl).  She performed solo at the Australian Burlesque Festival (Melbourne in 2015 and Sydney in 2017) and performed with her Burlesque Nouméa Troupe at the famous BHOF in Las Vegas in 2016 and 2018.

Danseuse, professeure et chorégraphe, née à Paris où elle pratique la Danse Classique et Jazz pendant 10 ans...

Elle part vivre au Brésil à l’âge de 18 ans. Elle y passera 13 années et continuera sa formation en Danse, se tournant vers la danse Moderne, méthode Limon-Cunnigham. Carine fait aussi partie d’une troupe de danse contemporaine "Companhia de dança Nù Tempo".

C'est le brésil qui lui inspire son nom de scène : LADY CARIOCA !

En Nouvelle-Calédonie, elle ouvre sa propre école de danse "Art et Mouvement" où elle enseigne modern’jazz, contemporain et danses brésiliennes.

Elle crée la troupe "Dança Brasil" en 2004.

Passionnée de comédies musicales, elle crée la troupe cabaret"On Broadway" en 2009 et produira plusieurs spectacles cabarets avec son mari, Guy Raguin.

Directrice artistique et chorégraphe de l’Election de Miss Calédonie 2013, organisatrice d’évènementiels tels Flashmob, animations de rue, défilés... autant de cordes à son arc, qui lui permettent d'être toujours créative et polyvalente.

En 2010 débute sa passion pour le Cabaret New Burlesque, avec la rencontre de Dirty Martini, venue pour un des spectacles Cabaret. Carine va à New York dans la School of Burlesque pour se former. Elle donne des cours de Burlesque et crée la troupe "Burlesque Nouméa" en 2012 !

Lady Carioca enseigne le Burlesque depuis 6 ans. 

Elle est allée à New York dans la School of Burlesque de Jo Boobs (Darlinda just darlinda, Pekaboo Pointe, Gal Friday) , à Sydney suivre une masterclass de Miss Polly Rae venue de Londres et participe aux workshops de l Australian Burlesque Festival (Indigo Blue, Perle Noire).

 Elle s 'est produite en solo à L australian Burlesque Festival ( Melbourne en 2015 et Sydney en 2017) et s'est produite avec sa Troupe Burlesque Nouméa au fameux BHOF de Las Vegas en 2016 et 2018.
